Life at Chewandswallow

How would our lives be with one of the basic necessities of life falling straight from the sky? Lucky you might say… But the people living in Chewandswallow seemed to have had a rough time. Picture yourself as a citizen of Chewandswallow. It would be raining all sorts of food everyday- hot tomato soup, eggs (sunny side up), pancakes, juices, creamy doughnuts, meatballs, spaghetti, burgers, etc. Now think about the dilemma you would have to face when moving outside your house… In the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, the lifestyle of the residents is portrayed in a very funny manner.

The reluctance of leaving the house without plates or silverware is comically portrayed. With cooked food falling from the sky, the restaurants are actually roofless. Imagine the mess created on the roads, cars and terraces. Thus the sanitation department does its duty of clearing the streets after every meal. The anticipation of the forecast by Sam Sparks (voiced by Anna Faris, the American actress and singer known for her comic roles) will be another charming aspect of the film. In the book there is a statement of the weather forecast that goes like this- "For dinner one night there were lamb chops, becoming heavy at times, with occasional ketchup."

I love the humour in the movie videos. And I know that every fun-loving person is bound to like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Find out more about this movie by logging on to: www.cloudythemovie.com

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs?

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is an animated movie presented by Columbia Pictures together with Sony. This animated film inspired by a popular book for kids, focuses on a small town that doesn’t need to work for food. Pizzas, pastas, hotdogs - you name it. The most delicious and healthy foods fall from the sky from time to time. But this happens only in the sweet little town of Chewandswallow.

In the movie, Flint Lockwood (voiced by Bill Hader) is a young inventor looking to make things perfect and on the verge of improving the life of the people in his town. He invents many useful things like the spray-on shoes, the hair un-balder and also the interesting monkey thought translator that he uses on his best friend Stump, the monkey. This quirky inventor also lands up building a machine that causes food to rain from the sky! Mayor Shelbourne only concerned about the popularity of the town likes the idea of Flint’s machine. Just as Flint begins to receive the recognition he always longed for, the machine spirals out of control, stirring up a worldwide phenomenon. This results in excess amounts of food pouring and flooding the town. Watch the movie to find out more. Visit: www.cloudythemovie.com

What’s in it for the Kids?

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was enjoyed by everyone as a book. But for those (especially kids) who aren’t the bookish type, the movie adaptation of the same storybook will suit just fine. But why should you encourage your child to watch this movie?

It is very important for a child to have the ability, to find something interesting in everything he sees. This ability is called ‘imagination’. Some children have an absolutely amazing imagination while some don’t. But it is our duty to stimulate their thinking from the time they are kids. Reading to them often helps. Kids tend to transform spoken word to visuals in their mind. Thus reading to them everyday increases stimulation and enhances their level of imagination at the same time. Similarly, watching a stimulating movie like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs also encourages them to come up with ideas and interesting concepts of their own. Children learn to be creative and imaginative only when grown-ups encourage them to do so. Don’t let your children miss out on the fascinating cartoon characters and the creative story line in this movie. For more information visit: www.cloudythemovie.com
